Coldstream Hills Yarra Valley – history
Coldstream Hills Winery collected its fist vintage in 1985. It was founded by James Halliday, a renowned winemaker and wine writer. The company has established its reputation as winemaker of original high-quality outstanding wines.
It is especially well known in Yarra Valley for their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Coldstream Hills vineyards are on the natural steep amphitheater with the winery on top. They have become an icon of the Upper Yarra region. The Upper Yarra climate is cooler than that of the Lower Yarra as the result of the higher altitude. It received good rainfall. The harvest starts 1-2 week later and the wines are more “elegant and finely structured”.
